In a bold step to support local businesses, the City of Atlantic City launched its Small Business Grant Program on January 16, 2025, providing up to $10,000 in aid for businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to help small businesses recover and thrive, offering critical financial support for working capital expenses like payroll and rent. Applications are open until April 1, 2025, and an informational webinar is set for January 22, 2025.

Today, we had the honor of celebrating Black History Month with Atlantic City seniors at ACT, where they created beautiful artwork that reflected the richness of Black culture. It was a meaningful and creative event that brought our community together in a vibrant celebration of history.

The energy was electric at Atlantic City High School as Cheer: The Ultimate Showdown 2025 brought together the most spirited and talented cheerleaders from across the district. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School Complex team stole the show, securing back-to-back victories with an unforgettable performance. More than just a competition, the event highlighted teamwork, dedication, and the power of school spirit. As spectators cheered and teams gave their all, it became clear that The Ultimate Showdown was about more than winning—it was about celebrating the heart and soul of Atlantic City’s young athletes.

The Raising Kings and Queens Program, launched by Atlantic City’s Reentry Services, celebrated its first cohort of graduates on February 6, 2025, in a heartfelt luncheon. Participants, ages 14-18, engaged in mentorship, etiquette training, and hands-on experiences over the course of 10 weeks, gaining essential life skills for their future. With the support of community leaders like Mayor Marty Small and Director Kamau Johnson, the program has proven to be a stepping stone to a brighter, more empowered future for Atlantic City's youth.

We recently had the privilege of attending the First Ward Civic Association Meeting, where we connected with local residents, shared valuable resources, and discussed important community topics. Engaging with our community is a powerful way to understand their needs and work together toward positive change. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation!

In a major announcement at the Visit Atlantic City meeting, it was revealed that Visit Atlantic City would take over the full responsibility of promoting the city, uniting the DO AC brand and leisure efforts under one umbrella. This partnership signals a new chapter for Atlantic City’s tourism.

Nazifah Afra won the Black History-themed spelling bee at Texas Avenue School by correctly spelling "demonstration." The event, sponsored by CHORUS and Caesars Entertainment, celebrated African American history and literacy while inspiring students to strive for excellence.

The Philadelphia 76ers honored the Atlantic City Recreation division at the Wells Fargo Center for their dedication to the community, spotlighting their ongoing efforts to provide youth with memorable experiences, including attending 76ers games.

Let’s Get Cookin’ 2025 event at Island Waterpark at Showboat saw the ACPD win with their Stuffed Grape Leaves, edging out the ACFD’s Crab & Shrimp Cakes. The real highlight, however, was the support raised for the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, thanks to the community's generosity!

ACYS celebrated the start of February with an inspiring Greek Day at City Hall, where a group photo launched a month-long display highlighting the contributions of HBCUs and Divine 9 organizations. The exhibit will remain on display throughout February, offering a chance to explore these organizations' incredible impact on our nation's fabric.

The City of Atlantic City is deeply committed to our senior community. Recently, the Atlantic City Senior Services arranged a successful trip to Walmart for local seniors. This initiative helped ensure that seniors had access to necessary items, while also providing them with an opportunity to connect and enjoy the outing together.

Atlantic City High School celebrated the 30th anniversary of its iconic Battle By the Bay basketball tournament with a thrilling 63–43 victory over Pleasantville High School. The event, founded in 1995 to prepare teams for postseason play and raise funds for student scholarships, has become a beloved tradition, drawing top teams from across the region and bringing both communities together for a spirited competition.
