Black History Employee Spotlight: Ahmid Abdullah’s Dedication to Atlantic City

Meet Ahmid Abdullah, the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Atlantic City! Since joining the city in 2004 as a laborer, Ahmid has worked his way up through dedication and perseverance. Today, he oversees 11 essential divisions, including sanitation, parks, and the beach & boardwalk, ensuring that Atlantic City remains clean, safe, and beautiful for residents and visitors alike. For Ahmid, his biggest inspiration is his family, especially his kids. He wants them to understand that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. His leadership and commitment to the city reflect this mindset, as he continuously works to improve the community he serves. “Every challenge we face is an opportunity for growth,” says Ahmid, a philosophy that has guided him throughout his career.
