Atlantic City Prepares for Winter Storm: Key Updates and Safety Measures Announced

By:

On the afternoon of February 11, 2025, Mayor Marty Small, along with the Atlantic City Office of Emergency Management, the Atlantic City Police Department (ACPD), and the Department of Public Works, held a critical weather briefing ahead of the predicted winter storm set to bring accumulating snowfall to the region. With the storm quickly approaching, city officials took swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors.

Public Works began treating the roads with brine early at 6:00 AM on Tuesday, preparing for any necessary snow removal throughout the overnight hours. To ease parking concerns during the storm, the NJ Casino Reinvestment Development Authority authorized the Wave Parking Garage to offer free parking for all Atlantic City residents and visitors, available from 3:00 PM on February 11th to 3:00 PM on February 12th.

The city also declared a Code Blue, which will remain in effect through at least 10:00 AM Wednesday. This ensures that those in need of shelter and food can find refuge at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, with ACPD providing transportation when available. In addition, city officials urged residents and visitors to limit travel during and immediately after heavy snowfall and to use extreme caution when on the roads, especially around snowplows and emergency vehicles.

To stay informed during the storm, residents were encouraged to sign up for AC Alerts, which provide timely text and email notifications on weather and emergency updates.
