The College and Career Fair at Atlantic City High School provided students with invaluable opportunities to connect with colleges, universities, and businesses, shaping their future paths. Held on Friday, February 28, 2025, the event offered instant decision admissions, allowing students to receive on-the-spot acceptance letters. Senior Carolyn Cezaire, initially denied admission to Rowan University, was thrilled to be accepted through the Rowan Choice program after improving her grades.
School Counselor Deborah Tormey highlighted the significance of instant decision opportunities, emphasizing how students could secure college acceptance without leaving the school. Senior Sierra Hawkins was one of many who took advantage of this, applying to Stockton University and receiving her acceptance letter and a scholarship within minutes.
The event was part of a week-long initiative preparing students for life after graduation. Students engaged with representatives from 100 colleges, universities, trade schools, and businesses, gaining insight into various career paths. In collaboration with Atlantic City Youth Services, workshops covered essential topics like resume writing, professional social media presence, and FAFSA applications.
Guidance Counselor Chaia Jennings, named Counselor of the County, praised the event’s impact, stating that while college is not for everyone, the fair connected students with multiple post-secondary options. Donald Harris, Director of Secondary Education, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the school’s mission to support students in making informed decisions about their futures.
The Atlantic City High School College and Career Fair was a resounding success, equipping students with the knowledge, resources, and motivation to take their next steps. Whether heading to college, trade school, or the workforce, attendees left the event with a clearer vision for their future.
